Laa ikrana fid deen: I don’t believe hadiths are divine revelation from God. Sure thing...

taqwaacore:

I don’t believe hadiths are divine revelation from God. Sure thing some are very beautiful but I only see them as ordinary quotes that might or might not be said by the prophet (as).

Some hadiths are just very sexist, violent & contradicts the Quran on many points, yet they’re regarded as…

Khuda Ke Liye - A brilliant, brilliant film written/produced/directed by Shoaib Mansoor. It follows 3 different people and their connection with each other, with Pakistan and with Islam. From a Pakistani musician who gets tortured by the FBI just because a drunk American accused him of being a terrorist to a westernised girl forced to marry to young man who has been brainwashed by the extremists. It truly is an eye-opener, I highly recommend it.

This movie is perf, so sad and moving ajdjsajfajas.

Great movie. Heartbreaking. Great Courtroom scene.

Because we're still oppressed: muslim and queerness

taqwaacore:

I do not support homosexuality because it is “mainstream” or because I want the “West” to think Islam is “cool” & “chill” about homosexuality or because I want Islam to “fit in” the “Western world” or for whatever else lame reason like that people could think of, no. I, as a…

“To be gay and Muslim, at times, people will say that it is an oxymoron. But in actuality, it’s a formulation that shows the diversity within Islam; that people can be a variety of backgrounds. The Quran says to look to the nature of the world. And from that, you can see the diversity and understand that Allah’s understanding of the world and the universe in which he created is full of diversity; but you find the oneness, the tauheed unification of all, through those various diverse aspects.”

Why are Jews that share this man’s opinion mostly left out of the discussion? Why are they mostly ignored?
There are quite a few of them.

Maybe it has to do with bigots on each side. The Muslim bigot doesn’t want to recognize “good” Jews and the Jewish and Christian bigot can better hide their bigotry if no one talks about Jews and Christians like this man.

“Isn’t it about time that the muslims learned “TOLERANCE” and assimilated to the western civilization……? Isn’t it about time that we recognize and call these ritualistic habits for what they are…..? An Obsessive Compulsive Disorder that puts people on edge under normal circumstances on the ground never mind when you have a plane load of people that have a memory of bad things happening when a certain group goes through a ritual……… You don’t see the Christians, Jews, Hindus, or Buddists doing stuff like this……… Time to start charging and fining these people for the disruption or don’t let them on the plane to begin with…….. I sick and tired of hearing it’s all a misunderstanding….. And it’s always “Us” that are doing the misunderstanding….How about they belly up to the bar and take responsibility for once….. A perceived threat is just as unsettling as a real threat……..”

- Grumpmann

That gem of an opinion was in response to a news story about a group of Muslims that took cups to the bathroom on the plane. Because they took a cup with them to the bathroom, the pilot called the FBI on them. They were detained and questioned and let go.

But it was Mr. Grumpmann that was most troubled. He thinks Muslims need to be more like him. After all according to him, Christians, Jews, Hindus don’t do these things that Muslims do.

What’s funny is the Christians, Jews and Hindus of Asia all do this. My Buddhist Cambodian friend also washes after using the bathroom. Even a couple of friends of mine from Nigeria wash.

Racism people. Isn’t it great?

Most of the remaining places on Earth, where people get shot and killed for political views and expression are Muslim nations. Most, not all, but most. What does that say about our people? What does that say about the version of Islam those people believe in? And is that version of Islam similar to the version you believe in?

Masturbation in Islam, Part 3:

There are a few hadiths used to proclaim masturbation as haram:

1. Anarrationattributed toAnas ibn Malikreports:

The Prophet of Allah said, “The person who performs Nikah with his hands (i.e. masturbation) is cursed.”

In this hadith, the phrase “Nikah with his hands” is supposed to mean masturbation. But what is Nikah? Nikah is the marriage contract. Why is the word for the “marriage contract” being translated as masturbation? Is the word Nikah similar to the word sex?

Is Nikah a synonym for sex?

I don’t see how it could be. Is “marriage contract” the same as saying “sex contract”? I always assumed marriage was a term which meant something broader than sex.

As far as I can tell, this hadith is non-sense. It just doesn’t make any sense. When someone masturbates, that person isn’t marrying their hand (or whatever else the person is using to masturbate). No one is sitting in their room, with the curtains drawn, negotiating Nikah terms between their hands and their privates. No one that masturbates is trying to marry a body part of theirs. Can you even marry yourself? Is that even a possibility?

2. Anarration attributed toSa’id ibn Jubayr reports:

The Prophet of Allah said, “Allah Taala will inflict a punishment on a group of people because they played with their private parts.”

This hadith seems to be talking more about group masturbation. I can see how this hadith may be true, in the sense that it’s message may be correct. In Surah 23, verses 5 to 7, Allah says the only people allowed to see ones private parts are ones spouses and slaves. No one else is allowed to see them, without a good reason.

In a group masturbation situation, others, that are not your spouse or slave, will be able to see your privates.

This hadith cannot be used to say individual masturbation is haram because that is not what this hadith is about.

3. Anarration attributed toHasan ibn Arfah reports:

The Messenger said, “Seven persons are such that Allah will not look at them on the Day of Qiyaamat nor will He purify them nor will He include them among the learned and Allah will enter them into Jahannam. They will enter Jahannam first except those who repent. As those who repent Allah will accept their repentance.

  1. A person who masturbates.
  2. A person who performs the act of sodomy.
  3. The person upon whom the act of sodomy is performed.
  4. A perpetual drunkard.
  5. The person who hits parents so much that they appeal for help.
  6. The person who harms his neighbors so much so that they curse him.
  7. The person who commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife.

This hadith, as well as all hadiths by this narrator, is considered a weak hadith by most scholars. So I’m not going to waste any more time than already spent on it. This hadith is fake.

Masturbation in Islam, Part 2:

Masturbation is considered haram by most of the scholarly class in Islam. But there are some that have maintained the haram-ness of masturbation, while allowing for handjobs/fingering from the spouse.

One of the reasons people claim masturbation is haram is because they state that it is harmful to ones health. Even though science completely disagrees, let’s ignore that fact for the moment. If masturbation is haram because it is bad for your health, why are handjobs/fingering from your spouse or slave allowed?

What would be the difference? Is someone else’s hand on your privates healthier than your own? I would assume the opposite to be true.

The scholarly consensus on handjobs/fingering is that they are alright in a marriage. They are especially alright if the spouse has a medical condition that is stopping them from having sex with the other spouse.

The argument that masturbation is not allowed because it is bad for your health is completely incorrect. In fact, it has been found that masturbation has helped people curb their sexual appetites.  And the body doesn’t like it if it goes for a long time without releasing sexual energy.

Men, if they don’t release their sperm regularly, will end up releasing it in their sleep. Many men will suffer from actual pain, if their sperm isn’t released.

A lack of sexual release has been linked to restless leg syndrome. In fact, many doctors have recommended masturbation to relieve restless leg syndrome.

Masturbation has also helped to reduce chances of prostate cancer in older men. Though the jury is still out on the results.
